The Dad Who Can Do Everything

My dad can do just about anything.

Growing up, I watched him build, fix, repair, paint, landscape, install, and figure out pretty much everything himself. There was never really a question of whether something could be done, just how he was going to do it. I can remember maybe three times when a “professional” was in our home.

When my husband and I bought our home, that mentality carried right over with us. We remodeled our kitchen and my dad built us completely custom cabinetry. Heck, my parents had the same washer and dryer from 1997 for nearly 30 years because my dad could repair practically anything on them. They didn’t replace them because he couldn’t fix them anymore; Eventually, he just decided he didn’t want to.

Over the years, he’s helped with flooring projects, repairs, and countless other home projects because that’s just who he is. He’s our first call when we’re stumped on a project, and honestly, he’s a lot of other people’s first call too.

And now my kids are growing up with both a dad and a grandpa like that. The kind of people who fix things instead of replacing them, who take pride in learning how things work, and who somehow always have the right tool for the job. (The number of times I have been scolded for buying a specific kind of screw without going through their inventory first is astounding.)

Honestly, I think a lot of people around here know someone like that. The person everyone calls before they call a contractor. The one who always has “one more project” going on in the garage, basement, or backyard.

That mentality is honestly a big part of why my dad built Monadnock Shutter and Shade in the first place. He appreciates quality work, attention to detail, and doing things the right way.

But even people who can do everything themselves deserve a break sometimes.

Sometimes it’s nice to enjoy the finished project without spending your entire weekend on ladders. Sometimes it’s nice to let somebody else handle the measuring, ordering, and installation from start to finish. Sometimes hiring a professional isn’t about capability. It’s about convenience, time, and getting to simply enjoy your home.

That’s really what Monadnock Shutter and Shade is about.

So this Father’s Day, if your dad already has every tool imaginable, maybe get him something else: one less project on his list.

A Monadnock Shutter and Shade gift card might be the perfect excuse to let someone else handle this one.

Give us a call our stop by our Keene showroom to purchase your gift card before June 21st.
